North Walsham has a great history from fire to revolt, smugglers and murder. Come and experience our ghost walks around the town centre to find out more about the town’s spooky past. Each walk lasts about an hour.
We welcome private bookings for Ghost Walks (or Ghost Talks).
Details for Halloween 2022 will be released in September.
We present two different types of ghost walk. One of them is designed for younger children and their families and the other for adults. We can also present exclusive ghost walks for your group or family.
• All tickets are £4 each and they can be booked online.
• Meet at the Town Clock. All walks will start and end at the Town Clock.

This walk is for children and their families (this walk is not as spooky as is more akin to our ‘Weird Walsham Trail’). Fancy dress is encouraged for our fancy dress competition!
(45 minutes). Suitable for ages 6+. No unaccompanied children. A great alternative to trick and treating!
All tickets must be purchased in advance. Everyone needs a valid ticket. Should these walks sell out, additional times may be added. Private bookings (10 or more people) can also be taken, including late into the night. Please contact Joseph if you would like this.
You must not attend any event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19, if you have been in contact with an infected person, or if you have been told to self-isolate. We are following all guidance and best practice. More information on our safety policy is below.
The Ghost Walks
The Ghost Walks are suitable for adults and older children aged 12+.
All events will adhere to Government Guidelines, best practice and extra precautions. The walks all take place outdoors and all participants must stay within their ‘bubbles’ and not mix or mingle with other participants.

The ghost walks last around 50 minutes to 1 hour long and there is no seating on the way round. We’ll be dipping in and out of alleyways too. If you have access or mobility needs, please let us know in advance and we will do what we can.
The ghost walks will take place even if wet and rainy. Come appropriately dressed as refunds cannot be made for no-shows.
We run public ghost walks but can also organise private bookings for groups and functions etc. You can get in touch with Joseph using our contact page.
Walks are collated and presented by Joseph Ballard, who is also director of New Stages who present theatre, classes and events in the local area. Joseph grew up in North Walsham and has, since a young age, been collecting stories of the paranormal, the town’s history and quirkiness.
Funds raised from the ghost walks help support the community projects and groups of New Stages.
Tickets must be booked in advance by calling our box office or booking online.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we do not issue tickets refunds unless the event is cancelled by the organiser. Walks will take place in wet weather, please dress appropriately to keep warm and dry. If there are extreme weather conditions, a new date will be circulated and your tickets will be transferable to the new date. We suggest that you could try and resell your tickets on our Facebook page if you was unable to make an event.
Keeping us all safe
Safety is always paramount with any event. We understand that some of you may want to know more about the extra precautions we are taking to make sure everyone is safe.
We will follow all Government and events industry guidance
We always work considering best practice, learning from others and writing and delivery our risk assessment plans. The walk leader also has Prevent Covid-19 Certification of specialist training.
Size of groups
We have limited numbers for the Ghost Walks. This is to ensure social distancing can take place on the walks in the spaces we’ll be visiting. The route and all spaces are outdoors.
Participants will be reminded to stay in their household bubbles throughout the walk. They must all keep separate with no more than 6 people in each household group. We will monitor social distancing throughout the event. We can also offer private group bookings if you are interested in this option.
People should continue to socially distance from those they do not live with wherever possible. You must not meet with people from other households socially in groups of more than six, unless an exemption applies. The latest information on social contact can be found in the Government’s meeting others safely (social distancing) guidance.
You may wear your face covering or mask throughout the walk if you choose to do so. As the event is outdoors and all participants will be adhering to social distancing, it is not mandatory. The walk leader will be also be socially distanced and will only raise his voice when it is safe to do so (space wise).
The entire event takes place outside.
We will wear a face covering or visor should be need to interact with you in any way.
At the time of booking, the contact details of the person booking are collected. This is so we can keep a record of who has attended. We will provide this data to NHS Test & Trace if requested within 21 days of you and your party attending your tour.
Check your health
The walk leader (and team) will undertake a self-assessed health check before the event and would not be attending if they display and Covid-19 related or other illness symptoms. No person with Covid-19 symptoms or if you have been in contact with an infected person, you should not attend any event and should self-isolate, as according to Government guidance. Please make sure that you follow the latest government guidance on self isolating if you show COVID-related symptoms, test positive for COVID-19 or are identified as a close contact via the NHS Test and Trace system.

All tickets are issued with a no refund policy. Should you be identified to self-isolate or if you are showing symptoms of Covid-19, you must let us know in advance. Your place on a ghost walk is then transferrable to a future date.
